The Protection Bureau in Exton, Pa., is celebrating 40 years of business.

Keith Ladd started the company back in 1975 and served as founder and CEO of the company until his death at 74 in 2009. But that wasn’t before Ladd and his family helped grow The Protection Bureau into one of the top 10 security integrators in the country. Ladd was inducted into the SSI Hall of Fame in March.

Today, Keith’s son J. Matthew Ladd serves as president and CEO, while Keith’s daughter Karen Ladd Baker holds the position of senior vice president. Together the siblings have more than taken over the reigns of their father’s company; they’ve helped it grow.

“I think it’s important to know that my sister and I were not just handed the company by my father,” J. Matthew Ladd, who serves on the SSI editorial advisory board, told the Daily Local News. “We were an active participant in its growth, and from the beginning we embraced the legacy our father created and continued to work to future success. And now, with the fantastic team members who are our employees, we’ve built a company that can grow by itself.”

The company operates in more than 38 states and has approximately 95 employees. It has other offices in South Plainfield, N.J., Wilmington, Del., and Richmond, Va.
